Join Us in Feeding Thousands During the Sacred Maha Deepam Festival at Arunachaleswara Temple

Maha Deepam is one of the most significant festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva, celebrated at the Arunachaleswara Temple in Tiruvannamalai. During this festival, a grand fire, known as Maha Deepam, is lit atop the Arunachala Hill—a 2668 ft high holy mountain that is revered as a living Shiva Linga. The deepam is visible from up to 35 km away, radiating Lord Shiva’s divine presence across the region.

Each day from December 13 to 23, the Maha Deepam is lit at 6:00 PM using 3,500 kg of ghee, drawing lakhs of pilgrims and devotees to witness this celestial event. Devotees also perform the 16 km Girivalam (circumambulation) around the sacred hill, which symbolizes the worship of Lord Shiva in his form as Arunachaleswara.

Nourishing Pilgrims and Sadhus

During this spiritually charged period, Satguru Charitable Trust invites you to take part in the Maha Deepam Annadanam Seva to serve meals to the Sadhus, pilgrims, and the poor who gather in Tiruvannamalai. This divine act of feeding the devotees aligns with the festival’s spirit of selflessness, devotion, and service.

Our Annadanam begins from December 3 to 23, ensuring that no devotee goes hungry during their pilgrimage. Food will be served daily at two main locations:

  1. Ashram on Arunachala Hill: For those visiting the temple to witness the Maha Deepam.
  2. Ashram Near Surya Lingam on the Girivalam Path: For devotees performing the sacred circumambulation.

Over the course of the festival, we will serve meals to more than 100,000 people, making it one of the largest acts of service during this holy period.

Be Part of This Divine Seva

Taking part in Annadanam during the Maha Deepam festival brings immense spiritual benefits. Annadanam is considered one of the highest forms of charity in Hinduism, and it is believed that feeding others, especially during sacred festivals, brings blessings from Lord Arunachaleswara.
